Life’s simplest joys—spending time with loved ones, meeting friends, or just enjoying a quiet evening—can be overshadowed by the pain and frustration after a car accident. The car you rely on is no longer usable, and every day brings new appointments, physical therapy, or even unexpected surgeries. In an instant, everything changes, leaving you to navigate not only the physical pain but the emotional and financial burdens that come with it.

In 2022, over 42,000 people lost their lives in motor vehicle crashes in the U.S.—a staggering rate of approximately 115 deaths daily. Additionally, about 2.4 million people were injured, meaning a crash-related injury happens roughly every 13 seconds.

These numbers underscore the ongoing dangers of driving on U.S. roads—and highlight the importance of having the right legal support to ensure you receive the attention and compensation you deserve.

A skilled auto accident attorney can help you address the many needs that arise after an accident. When recovering from injuries or the loss of a loved one, you need an attorney who offers:

  • Emotional support
  • Expert guidance on managing medical care, repairs, insurance claims, and other vital tasks

  • Access to trusted experts
  • A genuine commitment to securing justice for you

What Does a Car Accident Attorney Do?

After a car accident, a lawyer’s role is to handle the complexities of your case, negotiate with insurers, gather crucial evidence, and ensure all possible liabilities are addressed. At Consumer Attorneys PLLC, our attorneys take the time to understand your situation and fight on your behalf with both empathy and determination.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying potential defendants: Liability isn’t always clear-cut. We explore all angles—from the other driver to the car manufacturer or even local municipalities responsible for road conditions.
  • Accident reconstruction: Working with experts, we can clarify how and why the accident occurred, strengthening your case.
  • Gathering and presenting evidence: Building a strong case involves gathering police reports, witness statements, medical records, and photographs of the accident scene.
  • Negotiating with insurance companies: Insurers may attempt to offer low settlements. We’ll negotiate for fair compensation to cover your medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages.
  • Securing expert testimony: We collaborate with top professionals—whether medical experts or accident specialists—to provide credible, compelling testimony.

Why Hire an Attorney for a Car Accident?

Insurance companies may try to minimize their payouts or deny claims outright. Here’s why hiring an attorney is essential after a car accident:

1. Uncover All Liable Parties

Liability is not always limited to the other driver. If factors like poor road conditions or a defective vehicle played a role, we’ll help identify all responsible parties.

2. Maximize Compensation

Insurance settlements are often inadequate. Our attorneys ensure you receive the full compensation to cover both current and future losses.

3. Handle Complex Legal and Insurance Matters

We’ll take care of every aspect of your case, from negotiating with insurers to representing you in court, so you can focus on healing.

A skilled attorney ensures that all damages—including medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering—are fully covered.

Insurance companies are in business to minimize payouts. Studies show that accident victims who work with an attorney often receive significantly higher compensation—up to three times more than those who settle on their own (Insurance Research Council).
